Adding a Permitted Occupier to a Tenancy

Instructions for adding people as permitted occupiers on a tenancy

A permitted occupier is someone authorised by the landlord to live in a rented property without being a tenant, typically a partner, child, or dependent relative of the named tenant however these individuals have no legal rights to the property and are not responsible for paying rent.

Adding a permitted occupier to a tenancy can be done as follows:

  1. Navigate to the Applicants section

  2. If the permitted occupier is not already added as a tenant, first add them using the 'Add Tenant' button

  3. Click on the ellipsis menu (3 dots) button on the bottom right side of the card relating to the permitted occupier

  4. Select the 'Make Permitted Occupant' option

Notes:

  • The Lead Tenant can not be switched to be a Permitted Occupier. A new tenant must be nominated as the Lead Tenant before they can be switched.

  • Adjusting any tenancy data will not affect final tenancy agreements documents that have already been issued for eSign. The Final Tenancy Agreement task will need to be reissued in order to reflect any tenancy data adjustments.
